Warlick Family Reunion 2024August 11, 2024 Celebrating 295 Years of Warlick family history! The 2024 Warlick Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Daniel's Rock Church located on Reepsville Road west of Lincolnton, NC. As most of you know, we have traditionally alternated the site for the annual reunion between Daniel's Rock Church in Lincolnton, NC (even numbered years) and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church (odd numbered years) near Casar, NC. Our schedule is to begin with a "meet and greet" fellowship time at the Rock Church beginning at 11:30 AM. . At noon, we will "spread-the-feast" with a traditional covered dish meal, so bring enough for your family and some extra eats to share around. Plates, utensils, tea and such will be supplied. We will pass the plate for an offering that will help cover expenses, a donation to the church and support for the maintenance of the Rock Church, so slip a few extra dollars into your pocket for that. The "meet, greet and eat" events will be held in the air conditioned fellowship hall so August heat will not be an issue. We invite all to come early, stay late and enjoy the fellowship of an extended family. The Reunion will be over when the last person leaves. Some Saturday activities this year could occur depending on "you". Philip Warlick from Raleigh will be in Lincolnton on Saturday. So, if you want to set a firm schedule about coming to Lincolnton on Saturday, we can plan on getting together and touring a few of our Warlick historical sites. The owners of the land where the Warlick Grist Mill is located no longer live adjacent to the site, so getting to the mill site is more of a chore. Some of the dry stacked stone walls remain, but it is not a working mill today. Other possible sites might include several graveyards, along with a visit to the Ramsours Mill Battleground and of course, a visit to the Rock Church. Later that evening we can get together for dinner somewhere in Lincolnton. However, for Saturday to happen, you must contact Philip Warlick (919)-876-8363 or pcwarlick@gmail.com. or Donna Warlick (850) 545-6049 or dwarlick@embarqmail.com) so that we can make plans for a good connection on Saturday. For those that might need a place to stay, the Warlicks have traditionally stayed at the recently renovated Quality Inn (Comfort Inn) (704) 732-0011) or the new Hampton Inn (888-370-0981). Use your own judgment on this. We have sent a letter or e-mail to each of you for whom we have addresses. Mailing lists do get out of date, so please advise the committee of changes in your family and changes of addresses. A good telephone number would be wonderful information as well. Many people call us wanting to track down relatives. Because of the cost involved, we are trying to communicate to the extended family thru e-mail. This works very well, but e-mail list gets out of date almost overnight. Pease let me know your e-mail address (and tell me that e-mail communications are OK). Additionally, send us addresses of others family members that we can communicate with thru e-mail. This can save us money and give us the ability to react quicker than postal mail. The committee will be making a number of changes and additions to the web site www.thewarlicks.com so look for those changes. Along with that, we will be expanding the use of our Facebook page to update information on the fly. The Facebook group site is "The Warlick Family" and is open to all that want to join and participate. Donna Warlick, Michael Warlick and Philip C. Warlick will be there. We are hopeful that you will be there, too! We do look forward to seeing you on August 11, 2024. Copyright(c) 2003 The Warlick Family Association. All rights reserved. |
